Meet Ewart & Suzanne

GreenAg Chicken & Turkey

greenag farmers

Ewart and Suzanne are passionate about growing sustainable, stress free, certified organic, free range turkey and chicken to support our health and that of future generations.

After more than 30 years in the agricultural industry and experiencing health issues as a result of conventional farming practices, Ewart (also known as ‘The Churkey Man’) discovered the positive impact organic turkey and chicken meat had on his health and healing journey.

He set out to explore the possibility of producing free range certified organic turkey, which later grew to include organic chicken, from his family farm in Kingsthorpe on The Darling Downs. He went on to gain O.F.C certified organic accreditation.

From early beginnings producing small amounts to feed friends and family, the demand for organic turkey and chicken products increased significantly, as people recognised the versatility and health benefits of adding turkey and chicken to their diet.

Experience the GreenAg Difference.

Meet Tim & Amber

K2 Beef – Higher Eating

Tim and Amber from Kandanga Farm in the Mary Valley, are a Certified Organic working cattle farm, are all about regenerative agriculture, low stress, holistic practices, and working in harmony with nature! They graze their animals to mimic natures natural patterns. “K2 Beef – higher eating, is fully certified organic & entirely grass-fed. Their cattle are born and raised on the farm and have extremely low food miles.

Why call their beef K2? Well vitamin k2 has been referred to as the “missing link”. It is found in grass fed animals and some fermented foods.  However, once grain is added to an animal’s diet, the K2 vitamin is lost. You can read more about Vitamin k2 from Western Price’s article.

Tim and Amber know everything about their cattle. They use software called Agriwebb to keep records which means they can tell you which paddock their cattle have been in and when, as well as what mineral supplementation and homeopathic nosodes they have had access to. Yes the cattle use their own innate ability to choose which mineral licks on offer they need. They know they are managing their animals in a way that is in line with natural landscape function and honouring natural animal behaviour.

Tim and Amber take their responsibility to improve their landscape very seriously, so this is what they mean when they say regenerative. “We let all things grow – the more the better in our books as multiple layers of green leaf cover harnesses the most solar energy which feeds the soil and contributes to complex, dynamic ecosystems. It also gives variety to our animals in their diet. A chomp of a weed can provide medicinal benefits. We don’t want to eat one thing day in and day out, and neither do our animals. Yes this means we embrace weeds. We maintain living roots in the soil all the time and do not bare the soil. Soil needs plants just as plants need the soil. Bared soil with nothing growing results in decreasing fertility, ecosystem collapse and susceptibility to explosions in undesirable ‘pioneer’ plants and opportunistic pests.” They explain that animals are essential to ecosystems. Plants and animals evolved together and need each other to survive and thrive. Animals cycle and contribute to the nutrition of plants just as healthy plants sustain animals. Animals are never the problem – the way humans manage them is what determines if a landscape degrades or builds. They want complex, dynamic ecosystems that don’t need their intervention to exist. The more syntropy that exists the more resilient and healthy the ecosystem. Grasses, forbs, shrubs, trees, weeds, animals, reptiles, insects – the more the better.

Meet Harley

Chief’s Treats -Organic Pet Treats

harley chief treats

Meet Harley, a young entrepreneur who created his own business “Chiefs Treats”. These are pet food treats made from organic 100% grass fed beef from his family’s certified organic farm -Kandanga Farm in the Mary valley. These pet treats are pretty special and unlike many other treats, the only ingredient is just beef, organic, pastured raised beef, No fillers or nasty additives.

Harley runs his own business, whilst managing school and the commitments of a young adult. He makes all of the treats by hand in small batches. His other dogs Emmy, Guppy and Millie absolutely love them. Even his cat was impressed.

How did his business come about

Harley loved his dog, Chief, but sadly he passed away. Harley says, Chief was goofy and funny and loyal and he was always happy to meet new people.  Harley wanted to do something to remember him so he decided to make a healthier alternative for pet treats, so Chief’s Treats was born. He saw the opportunity to use organic, pasture raised beef from his own family’s farm. And the business came alive. You can check out Harley’s facebook and instagram pages “Cheif’s Treats” where he regularly post great information and story’s about how his business is evolving.

Meet Paul & Nicole

Noosa Natives

Paul and Nicole absolutely love where they live, nestled in the Noosa Hinterland, with their beautiful family. They have a deep respect for the land and the traditional custodians of Gubbi Gubbi country. Their farming style reflects the natural world.. the way mother earth loves it. They use organic, sustainable practices, utilising gravity fed water systems, solar energy, worm juice, free-range animal poo. Creating an environment that makes their indigenous fruit trees feel at home. They are organically certified by Southern Cross Certification.

Paul & Nicole were honoured to have Aunty Dale, an indigenous local woman and award-winning chef, cookbook author and public speaker, out to their home to cook one of her own recipes, Bush Lemon Aspen Tartlets.

These special fruits promote many health benefits as described by First Nations people and research entities. The fruits grown on their orchard have been shown to have the following benefits:

Native Plum: High levels of vitamin C, vitamin E, calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, lutein (for eye health) and folate. It also contains high levels of anthocyanins that are antioxidants. Anthocyanins are thought to promote skin health, have anti-inflammatory properties amongst other health benefits.

Lemon Aspen: A good source of zinc, iron, folate and has a higher anti-oxidant capacity than blueberries. It also contains magnesium and calcium. Other studies report amino acids, tryptophan, phenolic acids, flavonoid glycosides to promote skin health.  Note Lemon Aspen isn’t like a lemon, it is very unique in it’s taste.

Finger Lime: High in vitamin C, folate, potassium, polyphenols and vitamin E. Vitamin C & E have excellent antioxidant properties and the pinker finger limes were found to be exceptionally high in vitamin E. Also citric acid, malic acid, lactic acid and glycolic acid that promote skin health.

Midyim Berries: High in antioxidants & vitamin C & E. They also contain iron, potassium, calcium.

Sandpaper Fig: High in Vitamin C and Potassium.
